A contract is a contract.

Emmett Voss survived Andersonville by keeping his head down and doing what it took. Now, he’s hauling a General’s coffin from Texas to Louisiana. He expects a hard haul. He doesn’t expect a war.

Captain Gunnison, a ruthless Confederate guerrilla who refuses to surrender, is hunting the wagon. He claims the heavy coffin holds more than just a body, it holds a secret worth killing for. Emmett doesn’t ask questions. He signed a paper, and he intends to deliver.

With his wagon shaking itself to pieces and Gunnison closing in, Emmett runs out of road. He can no longer outmaneuver the pursuit.
